Will of John MAY of Sindlesham Hurst, Berkshire, formerly of Huish, Nately Scures, Hampshire, 8th August 1859 This
is the last Will and Testament of me John MAY formally of Huish in the
Parish of Nately Scures in the County of Southampton but late and now of
Sindlesham in the Parish of Hurst in the County of Berkshire August 8th
1859. I
John MAY being at the present time of sound mind and understanding
residing as above leave this my last Will and Testament revoking all
former or other Wills at any time by me made and I do hereby appoint
nominate and constitute my Grandson William MAY of Sandford Mill in the
County of Berkshire, Miller and my Grandson Joseph William MAY of Woodley
in the said County of Berkshire, Grocer or their executors and
administrators to be joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
In pursuance thereof I do hereby direct give devise and bequeath
unto my said Executors William MAY and Joseph William MAY aforesaid all
money which shall and maybe in my possession at the time of my decease and
sums of money or securities for money but and owing to me and also a
Policy of Assurance effected on my life with the Legal and General Life
Assurance Society, Fleet Street, London for the sum of five hundred pounds
with such additions of honours and accumulations as may become payable
thereupon at my decease and as well all other of my personal estate and
effects of every kind upon trust that they will and shall pay out of the
same my funeral and testamentary expenses and all my just and lawful debts
and then the following annuities, legacies and bequeathals namely unto my
daughter Mary Ann HOUGHTON I give devise and bequeath the sum of two
hundred pounds but subject nevertheless to and I do hereby charge and
encumber such legacy with the payment of two several sums of fifty pounds
each with interest that may be but thereon of such portion as may be
remaining unto Mr George LAMB of Basingstoke in the County of Southampton
such two sums having been advance and lent by him to and for the use of
Henry HOUGHTON aforesaid.
I also give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Ann HOUGHTON
my bed, bedstead, bed furniture and chest of drawers, looking glass and
night convenience and everything in my bedroom.
I give and bequeath the sum of two hundred pounds to my Grandson
Joseph William MAY subject nevertheless to and I do so hereby charge and
encumber such legacy with the annual payment of five pounds per year as an
annuity to my brother Thomas MAY during his life.
Unto my Grandson William MAY I give devise and bequeath the sum of
two hundred pounds.
Furthermore I declare that the said Executors or Executor of this
my last Will and Testament shall be accountable for and chargeable only
with such money as they or he shall respectfully receive and that the said
Executors or Executor may reimburse themselves or themself out of the
money which shall come in their trust.
I furthermore constitute and appoint the aforesaid William MAY,
Joseph William MAY and Mary Ann HOUGHTON my Residuary Legatees unto whom I
also give devise and bequeath all and every residue or remainder that may
arise and not be apprised and not bequeathed the residue if any to be
divided into three parts and each Legatee to take a part.

John PITHER of Sindlesham in the Parish of Hurst in the County of
Berkshire, Gentleman, make oath that I, one of the subscribing witnesses
of the last Will and Testament of John MAY late of Sindlesham in the
Parish of Hurst in the County of Berkshire, Gentleman, deceased the said
Will being now hereunto bearing date the eighth day of August 1859 and
that the said Testator executed the said Will on the day of the date
thereof by signed his name at the foot and thereof as the same now appears
thereon in the presence of me and of John MUDGE the other subscribed
witness thereto both of us being present at the same time and we thereupon
attested and subscribed the said Will in the presence of the said Testator
and I further make oath that we subscribed our names above that of the
said Testator as now appears and that the said Will was at the time of the
execution thereof contained in the three sheets or pieces of paper now
hereto annexed and on the oath of which I have now placed my initials John
PITHER Sworn
at Basingstoke in the County of Southampton this seventeenth day of
February One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Six before us R.H. King a
Commissioner to Administrator Oaths in Chancery in England. Proved
at London 9th March 1866 by the oaths of William MAY and Joseph
William MAY the Grandsons, the Executors to whom Administration was
granted. |
