At the moment, this is a very brief introduction, welcoming all-comers to my website. Here you will find the history of a distinguished family of minor gentry from the towns of and countryside surrounding Basingstoke in Hampshire and Reading in Berkshire (in the UK). I know much about this family and the site is thus heavily under construction at present. I have thrown up a smattering of information from a number of sources to give the reader a taster of what is to come. Particularly well populated at the moment is the 'memories' section. Here you can read a number of family histories written over the last century, showing how May descendants have always been interested in their past.

This site has only been made possibly through the researches of a number of  family historians over the last one hundred and fifty years. I would like to pay particular tribute to John Richards, Mary Anne May, Emma Elizabeth Thoyts, Peter Stevens, Guy Storry and foremost of all, my father, Michael Ford, who has been investigating the family's origins for the past forty years.
